Instruction:
Identify the time signature of the rhythmic patterns below.
• Time
signature tells us how the music is to be counted.
• It is
written at the beginning of the staff after the clef and the key signature.
• A time
signature consists of two numbers; the upper and the lower number. The upper
number tells the number of beats that should be in each measure. The lower
number tells the kind of note that receives one beat.
• The 2/4
time signature is a march rhythm while a 3/4 time signature is a waltz rhythm.
• The 4/4 time signature is also called common time signature.
